Things are sinking in.
The news of yesterday was good that it does not seem to be Stage 4 cancer, but I realize that it is STILL cancer. I am excited at the thought of having the mass removed from my liver, but I realize that the surgery to do that is not an easy one. Unfortunately, that got me thinking about some things….
When my Dad passed away in 2010, I became the family photo
organizer. Today I started to go through
all the physical photographs that I had in 6 or 8 plastic bins. Luckily before my Dad passed, he had done
some sorting by kid. 1 group for me, 1
for sister Deb, and 1 for Traycie.
Fortunately, I found a small tub that had the group that was pictures of
me. As I searched through the other
bins, I found lots of other pictures that Debbie and I have taken. I found lots that were group pictures as well. I did find a LOT of childhood photos that I
am not sure will be seen by anyone else.
At some point last year, I started a project to get all my
digital photos in line. I had so many
duplicates, due to editing, changing computers, getting copies back from my
sisters….. By the end of the year, I had
created a new library in Lightroom and I feel it was fairly duplicate
free. I then went about the task of
doing facial recognition and tagging faces.
That is a PAIN!!!!!!!!!!! So, at
some point in early November, I had to give it a rest. Today I went through and made sure I tagged
all the photos that were pictures of me.
Since I am usually the one taking the photos, I did not think there would
be many. I was wrong.
HOPEFULLY, there will be plenty of time left for me to take a TON more pictures, but I wanted to give some help to those that may need it later.
Yay, NOT stage 4 !!!! That's very thoughtful of you to organize your family photos.
ReplyDeleteSuper glad it is not stage 4, and that you have a plan, or at least the beginnings of one! Karen and I are thinking about you all the time.
ReplyDeleteI totally need to sort through pictures too - I'm much better about taking them than about using them for anything!
Wow that sounds just like a job to be a true nerd. Sending you lots of prayers during this period of discovery. Life hands us so many unexpected trials but it is good to be capturing the journey in photos and the blog. Thanks for sharing.
