VACATION Cruise

Just got back from our cruise.  It was on Norwegians newest ship, Prima.  It was different than any other Norwegian ship we had ever been on.  It had a sleek, high-end hotel feel to it.  There were lots of cool things, but I feel there were more misses than hits.

1)      The thermal area had a lot of sauna and spa areas that were new, but the pool (which is our favorite part of other NCL thermal areas) just was not enticing.  There was not hot tub, and there were no beds to lay in that had the bubble jets.  The entire area felt a bit like a maze.

2)      There did not seem to be as much to do on the ship.  Maybe it was because the daily planner listed the open times for each venue as a different line item. (It should have just had a section for Go Cart, Stadium, Mini-golf…., then listed each daily open time).  With each one taking up a slot on the planner, it made it too hard to find when something unique was on.

3)      Unfortunately they had technical difficulties with the production show, so we had it scheduled 2 times, but first was canceled, then the second time it started 15 minutes late, then 15 minutes into the showing the drop floor in the stage got stuck in the down position.  This left a huge empty space on stage that was unsafe to perform around.  So they had to cancel there.

4)      The casino was really nice, but the tables were all $10 and up.  I did well the first 3 days, and was able to end the week only down a little over $100.

The open areas all felt fancy.  They had tons of food options.  The Local and Indulge food court were great.  We enjoyed all of our specialty dining evenings.   The workers were all wonderful.

Now, back to the reason for the blog……   When I left for the trip I had just seen my local oncologist, and he ordered 2 tests that Moffitt would like to have done BEFORE I see them on the 26th.  Monday I got a call to schedule the CT scan of the Upper GI for Monday January 23rd.  I was hopeful that soon after I would receive a call to schedule the MRCP/MRI, which would capture a much more detailed picture of my stomach area.  I called on Wednesday and Thursday to follow up, but the scheduling call never came.  I will pester them again tomorrow when I am at my CT scan tomorrow.

All in all, it was great to get away with Deb and 3 of our friends, to have a “normal” week, before the anything but normal stuff starts to happen.

As more people are finding out what is going on with me, I am TOUCHED by the outpouring of support Deb and I have already received.  I start the testing tomorrow and Thursday I go to Moffitt. So I am starting the road to see what I am up against, but I know that I am not going alone.  I have the love and prayers of all my family and friends as the army to help me fight.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
